Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh to all blessed friends.
Have you heard a word of AFWAN?
That word is commonly used by those who learn arabic. They use afwan to express a word of SORRY.
But wait........before you continue using that word, there is something should be clear with the word of AFWAN.
So, for today's entry i'm glad to share with you about AFWAN that many of us kinda wrongly use it (depend on your situation). Read the dialogue below to get the idea:
Muhammad : ahlan, anti Khadija ? اهلا، أنت خديجة - Hi, you're khadija?
Fateema : la, ana Fateema. لا أنا فاطمة - No, i'm Fateema
Muhammad : aasif. ana Muhammad. آسف، أنا محمد - Sorry, i'm Muhammad
Fateema: anta Muhammad ? ahlan ! أنت محمد؟ اهلا - You're Muhammad? Hi!
Muhammad : naam, shukran. نعم، شكرا - Yes, thank you
Fateema: afwan. عفوا - Welcome
*********
AFWAN in general means "YOU'RE WELCOME" but sometimes means "I'M SORRY" (if you don't hear something).
AASIF means "SORRY" (for a mistake).
If you say AFWAN in egypt they're gonna look at you like, "what did you do for me?".
If you don't understand something or you make a mistake you can just say "asif/asfa".
So, if you mean SORRY, please say AASIF rather than Afwan.
Do you get what i mean??
** Kindly use arabic words correctly :) **

For a man: أنا آسِف
For a woman: أنا آسِفة
